PART ONE: Turning Light into Gold
This is the face I make when people ask:
“Do you actually make a living from photography?”
I hear something to this effect almost every week. In fact, as I was typing this in a coffee shop, a family friend walked in and, during the course of our conversation, asked me exactly that.
The short answer to this very unBritish question is yes, mostly. The more interesting question is how I have turned light into gold. So this week, dear reader, I will focus on the importance of mindset around cashflow and next week share some practical tips on how to bridge the gap between making art and making money.

Last month, I was shocked to hear one of the world’s greatest living artists say the quiet part out loud at a panel discussion, but I was delighted the topic was brought up.
“I never used to think about money, or talk about money at all, ten years ago. Now I think about it all the time.”
