Consider the bird. Found in a bin. Fighting for life.

Last May, lured like a lobster to a pot, a lesser black-backed gull was trapped in a bin in Paisley, Renfrewshire. Gull-haters might see this as a fitting, karmic end for a rat with wings. Live by the trash, die by the trash. But, pigeons, like rats themselves, are wonderful creatures simply adapting to their circumstances. What superpowers do these deafening, defecating birds possess? Is their mess actually our own making? And what became of this specific gull?
