I have been making ginger portraits for over a decade now across the world, from Russia to Jamaica and all that’s in between. You needn’t go everywhere because humans are a travelling species and most cities exhibit this mix.

But after all that time there was still one country crying out to be documented: the U.S.A. Indeed, when my work appeared on the BBC with the launch of my small-edition art book GINGERS, I was bombarded with offers from ginger sitters across the States. In 2024, I began traveling around the nation to answer that call.

The GINGERS project has always been an artist-driven project made possible by the help of individuals. We need your help to find out where to go and who to photograph in the U.S.A.
